BERTRAM COREA was the second son of Dr. J. A. E. Corea and his first wife Letitia Seneviratne. He was born and brought up in Chilaw with his older brother, Ivan and his sister, Gwendoline.

 

Bertram was also known as “Bertie”, and became a lawyer. He married Reenee Wijewardena and had one son Nihal Corea, who was a principal of a school in Matara, but left and became a successful journalist for Times of Ceylon Ltd, and then the Daily Mirror, where he worked as a reporter as well as a columnist. Nihal married Ranee Corea, a daughter of Edward Stanley Tarrant and Ida Lilian Rose Corea.
