Aruni Seedevi Corea was born on the 24^th of May’1952, to Henri and Claire Corea. She was the youngest of six children and her siblings were Ilona, Randunna, Devadunna (Deva), Uttumdunna (Uttum) and Ranmali. Commencing her education at Bishops College Colombo she completed her secondary education at Ladies College Colombo. Aruni was selected for a year’s study in the United States of America (USA) on an AFS Scholarship spanning 1970/1971. Returning to Sri Lanka, she obtained an Honours Degree in Sociology at the University of Peradeniya during the period 1972-1976. Aruni worked at ‘Margaya Research Institute’ in 1978. She then returned to the USA to continue her studies and then transferred to the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. She returned to Sri Lanka to attend the funeral of her mother in 1981 and opted to remain in Sri Lanka with her father and elder sister Ilona. During this period Aruni assisted her father who dictated ‘Corea Family Tree’, while she wrote the entire document by hand. She has put her education and training into practice as a counselor, attending to those in need of assistance and guidance at the ‘Jesus Calls’ prayer room for the last thirty years
