Obituary: Siva Obeyesekere - Funeral on Sun, 24/12/2017 |

The death occurred on the morning of 23/12/2017, of Desamanya Siva Obeyesekere, widow of late Senator, Desamanya James P. Obeyesekere.
A service will be held on Sunday, 24/12/2017 at her residence -19 Rajakeeya Mawatha, Colombo 07 at 9:30am, followed by cremation at Kanatte Cemetery (new crematorium), Borella at 11:00am.
Siva was the Minister of Health (1970-1977) cosplay costumes and Member of Parliament for Mirigama (1965-1977). She was a founder member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). She had also served as Chairperson of the National Craft Council and President of the World Craft Council. She had also been the recipient of the 'Kamala Samaam' award (India's highest award for contribution to the handicrafts and handlooms industry).
