Memorial Service for Mayadunne Corea Snr and Rita Corea - 19/06/2017 |

A Requiem Mass in memory of Mayadunne Corea Snr and Rita Corea (Nee Gooneratne) was held on the evening of 19th June 2017, at St. Mary's Church, Bambalapitiya.
It was at this very venue, that the couple had married 55 years before, in June of 1962.
The service, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Thilina Geeth Gayan, was held twenty years after the passing away of Mayadunne (Snr) and what would have been the 85th birthday of Rita. The congregation was welcomed on behalf of the immediate family (Sharmila, Mayadunne Jnr and Priyantha) by their elder son, Mayadunne Corea Jnr who explained the significance of the date on which the service was being held.
The Requiem Mass included a reading from the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians 4:13-18 by their grand-daughter Sayuni Corea (daughter of Mayadunne Jnr) and a recollection of "Memories of Achchi and Seeya" golden goose scarpe outlet and a solo rendition of "You Raise Me Up" by grand-daughter Namesha Perera (daughter of Sharmila).
