The death occurred in the United Kingdom on 19/06/2017, of Amithra Ilangantileke, beloved husband of Savithri (nee Amarasinghe) and loving father of Nelu, the late Anouki and Hiran. He was the adored grandfather of Saul,​ Sedona,​ Teom and Neve and​ father-in-law of Bill and Arianna.
He was the brother of Dr. Sarath Ilangantileke luxury clone watches and Inakshi Amarasekera and son of late Dr. Eric Ilangantileke and Autley (nee Corea).
The Funeral took place on Saturday, 01/07/2017 at Croydon Crematorium,​ Mitcham Road,​ Surrey, United Kingdom.
